Hülle und Innenleben / hull and interior

Finally I manage to update the blogg as well. But sometimes you have to set priorities.

After the ship was turned upside down, I was able to fill up the gap between the planks with epoxy and strengthen the transition from the floor to the first plank and from the floor to the CB-case with an epoxy tape. As a 2nd layer reinforcement, I covered the entire floor and the entire lowest plank with glass fiber. Likewise all holes of the screws had to be filled. Afterwards the skeg was fittet to the floorpanel. Then the entire floor could be covered first with primer and then with paint. All in all, this step can be described as filling, sanding, cleaning,
filling, sanding, cleaning, filling, sanding, cleaning, cleaning, painting, sanding, cleaning, painting, painting, painting (or something similar). Not my favorite work, but it's nice to see a great result. The top plank was not painted, because this is to get a different color. But to finish this area, the deck must be on the ship and the rubbing strip (i dunt realy know the word in english) mounted. After creating the new mobile substructure, the ship could be turned back. The rollers on the new substructure give me the opportunity to push the ship forward or backwards when I need more space at the bow or stern. It is recommended to use rollers with brakes as this will make the boat more stable and will not move when working on it.

After turning back, I was able to get to the inside of the ship. Filletting everything and then sanding, painting, etc... Until the bilge was painted, I could already do some work for the rig. To make something round out of a square piece of wood I had to come up with some ideas. But with a saw, a planer, a rasp and some sand paper, this works well.

To fit the front deck and seats, I cut a template out of cardboard. This worked very well. It is important to cut the wood a little bit too big (on the side of the planks) and then to approach the end result step by step with rasping and grinding. So you can make sure that everything fits nicely and that there are not too big gaps, which have to be filled afterwards. After adapting the components they could be glued and painted. Basically, the steps with the plywood are always similar:

- Adjusting the component
- Assemble and glue the component
- Fill screw holes and fillet edges
- Sanding
- Repair with epoxy
- Sanding

- Epoxy coating over everything
- Sanding
- Then start to apply with the color system.

At least that's how it works for me. But with every piece you can see the progress. That's wonderful!
